Dhaka, Sept. 18 -- Rainfall may increase across Bangladesh next week as a low-pressure system is expected to form over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining areas within the next two days, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The system has not yet formed, but meteorologist Md Omar Faruk says it could intensify into a depression and eventually develop into a cyclone.

"If the low-pressure system forms, it may intensify into a depression and could later develop into a cyclone," Omar told bdnews24.com on Friday afternoon.

"However, its likely track is towards Odisha. Its influence may increase rainfall in Bangladesh, particularly around Sept 23, 24 and 25."
