Bangladesh, Sept. 9 -- Lightning has sparked a fire at the Sirajganj home of Power Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood Tuku.

The fire broke out around 1:15pm Wednesday at a gas riser at the gate of his residence on Al Mahmud Avenue in Hosenpur.

Fire Service and Civil Defence members said lightning caused the fire, which caused no damage.

Witnesses said flames suddenly appeared in front of the minister's home as rain and lightning lashed the area.

Firefighters were called and brought the blaze under control.

Sirajganj Fire Service Station Officer Shariful Islam said, "The house gatekeeper said the gas riser caught fire due to lightning. Nothing other than the riser was damaged."
