Dhaka, Nov. 16 -- A Supreme Court lawyer has filed a petition seeking directives to strengthen security for judges serving in the lower courts.
The petition was submitted on Sunday by lawyer Yunus Ali Akond.
He told bdnews24.com that the petition seeks orders to improve security at judges' residences and court premises, as well as measures to protect their "privacy".
"The police committed an offence by failing to act on the general diary filed by the Rajshahi judge's wife. This issue is also included in the petition," he said.
Yunus added that the petition seeks court orders requiring the inspector general of police, the commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, and Jalalabad Police chief in Sylhet to appear before the court.
