Dhaka, March 9 -- The government has cancelled the dismissal order of police officer Kohinoor Mia, clearing the way for his reinstatement with full service benefits nearly 16.5 years after he was removed from duty.

A Ministry of Home Affairs notification issued on Monday stated that the president has granted a review petition filed by the BCS 12th batch officer.

The order to cancel his dismissal is effective immediately.

The ministry also directed that the period of his dismissal be treated as "active service", entitling him to all back pay, allowances, and other service-related facilities.
