Dhaka, April 4 -- A fire at a gas lighter factory in Keraniganj has been brought under control after around one and a half an hours.

The blaze was contained at 2:30pm on Saturday after efforts by seven units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence, media officer Anwarul Islam said.

The fire was first reported around 1:15pm, said duty officer Rojina Akter.

"After receiving news of the fire at the tin-shed factory, three fire units initially responded," Anwarul said. "The number of units was gradually increased to seven."

The official added that the extent of damage is not yet known.
