Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- Supreme Court Appellate Division Justice AKM Asaduzzaman has formally retired from office.

As he turns 67 on Feb 28, the constitutional retirement age, the court will remain closed that Saturday, prompting the Appellate Division to arrange his official farewell on Thursday.

The Supreme Court Bar Association accorded him a send-off in the presence of the five-member full bench headed by Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury.

With his departure, five judges now remain in the Appellate Division: Chief Justice Zubayer, Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, Justice Md Rezaul Haque, Justice SM Emdadul Hoque, Justice Farah Mahbub.
