Bangladesh, July 31 -- July has seen the highest number of dengue deaths this year with 36 fatalities recorded so far. The month has also seen the highest number of fresh cases over the past six months.

According to the regular bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), a total of 15,310 dengue patients have been identified across the country from Jan 1 to Friday, with a total of 54 deaths. Of the caseload, 9,206 patients were identified in July alone.

This week the DGHS recorded 2,670 new cases and 14 deaths. In the 24 hours until 8am on Friday, one death from dengue was registered, while 153 new patients were admitted to the hospital.
