Dhaka, March 30 -- A Dhaka court has shown journalist Shaukat Mahmood arrested in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Shahbagh Police Station.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Rana passed the order on Monday.

Prosecutor Muhammad Shamshuddoha Suman confirmed the order was issued in presence of the former National Press Club president.

This is the same case in which former Awami League minister Abdul Latif Siddique and Dhaka University law professor Sheikh Hafizur Rahman Karzon were previously detained.

According to the case statement, the incident took place on Aug 28, 2025, during a roundtable discussion organised by "Mancha 71" at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU).
