Dhaka, June 8 -- A man has allegedly stabbed his wife to death before attempting to die by suicide following a domestic dispute in Jashore, police say.

The incident took place at a rented residence near Sheikhhati Tamaltala of Noapara Union under Sadar Upazila on Monday dawn, said Kotwali Police Inspector (Investigation) Kazi Babul Hossain.

The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Samina Akter.

Her husband, idenfied only as Sujon, 26, is currently undergoing treatment at the Jashore 250-bed General Hospital's male surgery ward.

The couple were maternal cousins, police said.
