Jamaat's income falls 18% in election year as spending tops earnings
Dhaka, July 30 -- Jamaat-e-Islami's income has slumped 18 percent in the year of the 13th general election, with the party's expenditure outstripping its earnings.
According to its audit report submitted to the Election Commission (EC) on Thursday, Jamaat earned Tk 236.8 million in the 2025 calendar year against expenditure of Tk 239.2 million, leaving spending around Tk 2.36 million greater than income.
The party had posted income of Tk 289.7 million in 2024, the year of the July Uprising, with expenditure standing at Tk 237.3 million.
A delegation led by Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair handed the report to EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed.
Secretary General Mia Golam Porwar signed off on the audit.
