Dhaka, Feb. 7 -- Former water resources minister and senior Awami League leader Ramesh Chandra Sen has died while in jail.
The 85-year-old passed away at 9:30am on Saturday, said Taufiq Hasan, a doctor at the emergency department of Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
Sen, a former member of the Awami League presidium, had been detained at Dinajpur District Jail after his arrest in cases filed following the events of Aug 5, 2024.
Hospital officials said he fell ill inside the jail premises in the morning and was taken to the hospital at 9:10am. Doctors declared him dead at 9:29am.
