Dhaka, Feb. 25 -- A female student of Jahangirnagar University has allegedly been confined at a property near the campus and subjected to assault, leaving her hand burnt.

The incident took place on Tuesday around 11:30pm in Islamnagar near the campus, according to University Proctor Prof AKM Rashidul Alam.

The victim accused Tariqul Islam, 32, a 53rd batch student of the Institute of Information Technology (IIT), of involvement in the incident.

After being taken to the university's medical centre at night, she described the details to a female teacher of her department.
