Dhaka, March 8 -- The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has said two suspects in the murder of Inqilab Moncho leader Sharif Osman bin Hadi have been detained by West Bengal Police in India based on "defence intelligence".

In a media statement issued on Sunday, the ISPR said the process of extraditing the duo to Bangladesh has already "commenced".

Earlier that day, Indian media outlets -- citing a bulletin from the West Bengal Police Special Task Force (STF) -- reported the arrests of Faisal Karim Masud and his accomplice, motorcycle driver Alamgir Hossain.

While Dhaka police had asserted nearly two and a half months ago that the pair were hiding in India, Indian authorities had issued a strenuous denial.
