Dhaka, June 13 -- A Dhaka court has granted police one day to interrogate actress Asma Akter Jhilik's husband in a case over her death after she fell from a hospital balcony in Dhanmondi.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Didarul Alam passed the order on Saturday against suspect Safi Ullah for allegedly abetting suicide.

Jhilik died after falling from the seventh-floor balcony of Bangladesh Medical College Hospital on Friday afternoon.

Subsequently, her elder brother Mozammel Haque filed the case with Dhanmondi Model Police.

Producing the suspect before the court, investigating officer and Dhanmondi Model Police Sub-Inspector Kazi Abdul Mannan pleaded for seven days to remand him into custody for questioning.
