Dhaka, April 18 -- The government has set Jul 2 as the start date for this year's Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations.

The decision was made at a meeting of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the education ministry on Saturday.

Dhaka Education Board Chairman Khandokar Ehsanul Kabir shared the development with bdnews24.com.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon presided over the meeting.

He said, "We will share the routine within a week, and complete the exam within five weeks.

"The decision was taken [Saturday] after discussions with stakeholders."

This year's HSC exams will be held in nine general education boards across the country with a common question paper.
