Bangladesh, Aug. 13 -- Parts of the Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions are expected to see heavy to very heavy rain on Wednesday due to the active southwest monsoon, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The BMD issued a warning in the morning, stating that heavy rain is likely in these areas in the 24 hours from 9am.

When a certain area sees between 44mm and 88mm of rain over a 24-hour period, it is considered heavy rain. Rain above 88mm over a 24-hour period is classified as very heavy.
