Dhaka, June 23 -- Heavy to very heavy rain is on the way for much of Bangladesh, with the north and south-east facing the biggest soaking.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department's morning bulletin says light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds and lightning are likely across much of Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, with some parts of Rajshahi and Dhaka also catching spells.

Isolated areas across the country could see very heavy downpours.

Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman told bdnews24.com on Tuesday that the likelihood of heavy rainfall remains predominantly high in the northern region, while some areas in the southeastern part of the country could also witness downpours.
