Dhaka, Feb. 16 -- Prof ASM Abdul Haseeb, a professor at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of the newly-formed Dhaka Central University, which is composed of seven government colleges in Dhaka.
The appointment was made in a notice from the Ministry of Education's Secondary and Higher Education Department (SHED) on Sunday.
The notice was then announced by the SHED on Monday.
Haseeb was serving as BUET's dean of faculty for postgraduate studies.
The ministry says the vice-chancellor's term is four years, but the president and chancellor can cancel the appointment at any time if deemed necessary.
