Dhaka, March 17 -- The government has reinstated 330 police officers -- 123 sergeants and 207 unarmed sub-inspectors -- whose appointments were cancelled in 2007 under "party consideration".
Monday's move comes nearly two decades after they were first selected during the BNP-Jamaat-e-Islami alliance government in 2006.
A Ministry of Home Affairs order outlines the decision, which comes less than a month after the BNP-led government took office following its parliamentary majority in February.
The order states:
* The appointments of sergeants and unarmed sub-inspectors cancelled in 2007 are now reinstated, subject to certain conditions.
