Dhaka, March 14 -- The government has installed BNP leaders as administrators in Barishal, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Rangpur and Cumilla, following similar appointments in six other city corporations.

The appointments were announced in a local government ministry notification issued on Saturday.

It said the administrators will remain in charge until the corporations are constituted or until further orders.

Bilkis Akhtar Jahan Shirin has been appointed administrator of Barishal City Corporation. She is the BNP's organising secretary for Barishal Division.

Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman has been made administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation.
