Dhaka, Dec. 24 -- The interim government is providing security measures for Tarique Rahman ahead of his return to Bangladesh, according to Chief Advisor's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

On Wednesday afternoon, at a briefing at Dhaka's Foreign Service Academy, he said the government welcomed the BNP acting chief's return.

Authorities are finalising security arrangements in consultation with the BNP, ensuring all requests from the party are addressed, he added.

According to him, the government is making "every effort" to provide adequate protection.
