Dhaka, Feb. 24 -- The price of a 12kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), widely used for household cooking, has been reduced by Tk 15.
The new pricing sets the 12kg cylinder at Tk1,341 in retail, down from the previous price of Tk 1,356.
The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) said the new price is effective from 6pm on Monday.
The commission said the price was revised following a change in value-added tax (VAT) policy by the National Board of Revenue (NBR).
The NBR withdrew VAT at the production stage of LPG and instead imposed a 7.5 percent VAT at the import stage, prompting the regulator to readjust prices.
