Dhaka, June 15 -- Gono Forum President and veteran Liberation War organiser Mostafa Mohsin Montu has died at the age of 80 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.

He passed away at 5pm on Sunday at Square Hospital, according to Mohammad Ullah Madhu, the party's information and media secretary.

Montu had been unwell for nearly two months and was making regular visits to the hospital.

Madhu said his condition worsened before Eid-ul-Azha, prompting his admission to the private facility.

Born in 1945, Montu was elected as a member of parliament from Dhaka-3 constituency in the 1986 parliamentary election as an Awami League candidate.
