Dhaka, Oct. 24 -- A fire at Supreme Garments' carton and yarn warehouse in Gazipur has been brought under control after around three and a half hours of firefighting.

Fire Service spokesperson Anwarul Islam said nine firefighting units doused the flames at 1:50pm on Saturday.

The fire broke out around 10:15am on Saturday, Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service Md Saiful Alam Chowdhury said.

According to the Fire Service and local sources, the fire started suddenly at the factory's warehouse. Flammable materials and raw materials stored there caused the flames to intensify rapidly and spread quickly.

Towering flames and thick black smoke triggered widespread panic in areas around the factory.
