Gazipur murders: Suspect's phone found on Padma Bridge, suicide suspected
Dhaka, May 14 -- Police have recovered a mobile phone from Padma Bridge reportedly belonging to the prime suspect in the Gazipur quintuple murder case, raising fears he may have jumped into the river.
Gazipur District Superintendent of Police Sharif Uddin disclosed the development during a press briefing on Thursday afternoon.
"The phone was found abandoned at a midpoint on the Padma Bridge. Based on this finding, we suspect the accused may have jumped into the Padma River in an attempt to commit suicide," Sharif said in a written statement.
The discovery follows the recovery of five throat-slashed bodies from a house in Rautkona village of Kapasia on Saturday morning.
