Dhaka, April 3 -- Zonayed Saki is set to step down from his role as the chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, the party confirmed.

On Friday, the party called a media briefing at its central office in Hatirpool on Saturday to officially announce its new leader, said Bachchu Bhuiyan, a member of the party's central executive committee.

"The chief coordinator is leaving his post. Who will take over the helm will be known [on Saturday]," he said.

Saki, along with Executive Coordinator Abul Hassan Rubel and political council members including Taslima Akhter and Firoz Ahmed, is expected to attend the briefing.

Ganosamhati Andolon began its journey on Aug 29, 2002.
