Dhaka, Aug. 10 -- Students unhappy with their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent results can now seek a rescrutiny, with applications opening Tuesday.

The window runs until Aug 17, with candidates required to pay Tk 150 per paper for each subject reviewed.

This year, answer scripts of applicants will undergo full reassessment rather than just simple retallying, said Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon.

Results were published on Monday, with the minister detailing the overall situation at a press conference at the Secretariat afterwards.

A total of 690,608 candidates failed this year's SSC and equivalent exams, up from 600,660 last year, a jump of 89,948 candidates.
