Dhaka, March 19 -- Police have arrested Awami League leader and former Dhaka North City Corporation ward councillor Abul Hashem Hasu in the capital's Adabor.
He was detained from his residence on Thursday night, said Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Ibne Mizan.
Police said Hasu, a former president of the Adabor Police Station unit, had been in hiding since the Awami League lost power.
He returned home on Thursday evening after around 18 months, prompting police to move in on a tip-off and arrest him.
According to Adabor Police, at least half a dozen cases have been filed against him, including allegations of using force to suppress the 2024 mass uprising and several other criminal charges.
