Dhaka, April 14 -- A Dhaka court has placed retired lieutenant colonel Afzal Naser, a former director of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), on a fresh three-day remand in a case over the death of BNP activist Mokbul Hossain.

Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam passed the order following a hearing, confirmed Prosecution Police Sub-Inspector Rokonuzzaman.

The Detective Branch (DB) of police produced the suspect in court on Tuesday after a previous stint in custody, seeking an additional five days to interrogate him.

Additional Public Prosecutor Azizul Huq Didar argued for the necessity of further questioning to uncover details regarding the incident.
