Dhaka, March 26 -- A Dhaka court has placed former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) chief Sheikh Mamun Khaled on a five-day remand for questioning in a murder case linked to the July Uprising.

Metropolitan Magistrate Siddique Azad issued the order on Thursday after a petition by the Detective Branch (DB) of police.

Mamun was arrested around 12:30am on Wednesday from his residence in Mirpur DOHS, Dhaka.

Investigating officer SI Kofil Uddin of DB police produced him before the court, seeking a seven-day remand.

According to the remand plea, on Jul 19, 2024, between 500 and 700 Awami League activists allegedly attacked a student-led protest at Mirpur-10's Falpatti using crude weapons.
