Bangladesh, July 9 -- A child, a pregnant woman, an elderly woman and 10 others have been rescued from a flood-hit shack in Chattogram's Banshkhali Upazila after rising water left them stranded.

On Wednesday, floodwater submerged the area near Chechuria Bridge over the Jalkadar Canal.

Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel rushed to the scene after receiving a call through the national emergency service, 999, that night.

Photos and videos of the rescue later spread on social media, showing two firefighters wading through chest-deep water while holding onto a rope.

One carried an umbrella to shield the child from the rain.

The 8-month-old infant was placed inside a large cooking pot and carried across the flooded stretch to safety....
