Bangladesh, Aug. 25 -- A fire has ripped through Parjatan Corporation's Shaikat Bar and Restaurant in Chattogram city.

The flames erupted around 8:45am on Monday and were brought under control within 30 minutes, according to the Fire Service.

Three fire engines from Nandan Kanan and Agrabad were dispatched to the scene, said Khalilur Rahman, an officer at the Agrabad control room.

He said the fire, caused by an electrical short circuit, was fully extinguished by 10am.

No casualties were reported, but goods worth around Tk 800,000 were destroyed, according to Khalilur.

The establishment on Station Road was previously looted and vandalised on Aug 5, 2024, the day the Awami League government was toppled.
