Dhaka, April 15 -- A fire has broken out in an 11-storey building in Dhaka's Banani, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Anwarul Islam, a Fire Service spokesperson, said they received reports of the blaze around 6:30pm on Wednesday.

Two units from the Baridhara Fire Station arrived at the scene within 15 minutes.

Three additional units are currently on their way to join the effort.

The fire originated on the 10th floor of the building, which is located beside the Banani kitchen market, the official added.

No casualties were immediately reported as the firefighting operation continued.
