Dhaka, March 10 -- A fire that broke out on the third floor of the 10-storey commercial complex in Mirpur has left two people dead, and several others injured though it was contained inside one and a half hours.

Mirpur Police Inspector (Investigation) Rajib Hossain said the injured were rushed to hospital, where doctors declared 21-year-old Rakib Hasan and a 20-year-old known only as Anannya dead.

On Monday, many had visited the complex, LA Plaza, for Eid shopping when the fire started. It housed clothing shops, a beauty parlour, a bank, offices, and residential flats.
