Dhaka, Oct. 24 -- A fire that broke out at a multi-storey building in Dhaka's Kalshi has been brought under control nearly two hours after it started, according to the Fire Service.

The six-storey building houses a community centre named "Vibahavari" on its ground floor.

Duty officer Rakibul Hasan of the Fire Service control room said they were alerted to the fire at 10.22pm.

Six firefighting units were deployed to douse the flames, which started on the upper floor of the building.
