Dhaka, June 26 -- Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has called on Meta, the company behind Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Threads and Messenger, to find more effective methods to tackle misinformation that disrupts social harmony and spreads hatred.
He stressed the seriousness of the issue in a densely populated country like Bangladesh, where a single false statement can trigger widespread instability, adding that some actors "deliberately" spread such content.
The interim prime minister met Meta's Asia Pacific Vice President for Public Policy Simon Milner and Public Policy Manager Ruzan Sarwar on Wednesday evening at the State Guest House Jamuna, according to a statement from the Chief Advisor's office (CAO).
