Dhaka, March 1 -- Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has been admitted to a hospital in Dhaka after he fell sick.

"Sir fell sick [on Saturday] and was admitted to the United Hospital in Gulshan," his aide Shahiduzzaman said on Sunday.

Shahiduzzaman added that although the minister is feeling better, doctors are closely monitoring his condition.

A member of the BNP Standing Committee, Amir Khosru was elected to parliament from Chattogram-11 in the 13th parliamentary election. He was subsequently given charge of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Planning.

He was first elected to parliament in a by-election from Chattogram-8 in 1991.
