Dhaka, Oct. 26 -- A pedestrian has died after being hit by a bearing pad that fell from the Dhaka Metro Rail line in Farmgate.
The incident occurred around 12:30pm on Sunday, prompting authorities to suspend metro operations.
Confirming the incident, Faruque Ahmed, managing director of the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), which operates the metro rail, said: "A bearing from the joint between the metro line's viaduct and pillar came loose and fell. I've heard one person died on the spot.
"Metro train service has been temporarily suspended. I'm on my way to the scene and will be able to share more details after ab inspection."
