Dhaka, Oct. 26 -- A pedestrian has died after being hit by a bearing pad that fell from the Dhaka Metro Rail viaduct in the capital's Farmgate.

Train service has been suspended in the wake of the incident that reportedly occurred around 12:30pm on Sunday.

"A pedestrian was passing by the footpath in front of the Krishibid Institution underneath the Farmgate Metro Rail Station when a bearing pad fell from above, killing them on the spot," said Mobarak Hossain, chief of Tejgaon Police Station.

He was not able to confirm the name or identity of the victim.

Witnesses say a tea stall in the area was also damaged in the incident.

Sub-Inspector Nazrul Islam of Tejgaon Police Station said the authorities had been informed about the incident....
