Bangladesh, Aug. 12 -- The Election Commission (EC) has decided to investigate the field situation of 22 political parties seeking registration.
Following a meeting on Monday, Election Commissioner Abul Fazal Md Sanauallah said the move comes after a preliminary review of 143 applications.
Of them, 84 parties submitted corrected documents after being asked to fill information gaps, while 59 failed to respond.
Only 22 parties submitted valid and verifiable data, and the EC will now examine their ground-level presence before proceeding.
The remaining 121 parties have been deemed ineligible for registration.
Their applications will be returned within the next 15 days.
