Bangladesh, Aug. 27 -- The Election Commission has filed a general diary (GD) at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station after a scuffle broke out between representatives of the BNP and the National Citizen Party (NCP) during a hearing on the proposed boundaries of Brahmanbaria-2 and -3 constituencies.

The police complaint was opened on Monday, a day after the incident, but did not name any of the individuals involved.

"We did not name anyone. We informed police about the scuffle during the hearing," EC Secretary Akhter Ahmed said.

He added the commission acted on its own initiative to notify police, and that any investigation would be a matter for law enforcement.
