Dhaka, March 11 -- Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Sarwar has warned transport operators of "tough action" if they cause traffic congestion during the Eid-ul-Fitr rush.

Speaking at a view-exchange meeting with bus owners and workers at Mohakhali Bus Terminal on Wednesday, the commissioner said while some minor issues might be overlooked, obstructing traffic flow would not be tolerated.

"We may overlook certain things, but if any action causes a tailback, we will take strict measures," Sarwar said, specifically urging drivers not to pick up passengers by stopping buses in the middle of the road.

He said police have taken necessary security measures to ensure a smooth journey for holidaymakers.
