Dhaka, June 25 -- India's New High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi has voiced hope that recent tensions and disputes along the border will be resolved "quickly".

He linked that optimism to what he described as productive discussions between senior officials of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and India's Border Security Force (BSF).

On Thursday, Trivedi shared that view while presenting his credentials to President Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban, formally beginning his assignment in Dhaka.

The former politician turned diplomat later held a courtesy meeting with the president following the credential ceremony, according to President's Press Secretary Md Sarwar Alam.
