Dhaka, Sept. 29 -- Bangladesh has reported six new dengue deaths and 1,942 hospital admissions from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease over the last 24-hour count.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the latest figures had taken this year's dengue death toll to 239, with 142 deaths recorded in September alone, the highest monthly total so far this year.

According to the DGHS bulletin released on Tuesday, 178 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka North City Corporation and 229 in Dhaka South during the period.

Outside the two city corporations, 378 patients were admitted in other hospitals across Dhaka Division.
