Dhaka, Sept. 19 -- Dengue deaths and hospital admissions have continued to rise in Bangladesh, with two fatalities and 1,232 new patients recorded over the past 24 hours.

Both people who died were from Dhaka South City Corporation.

This year's dengue toll now stands at 178, according to government figures. Of these, 81 died in September alone, the highest monthly toll this year.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its Saturday bulletin that 154 patients were admitted in Dhaka North City Corporation and 175 in Dhaka South in the 24 hours up to 8am Saturday.

Another 85 were admitted outside the two city corporations in Dhaka Division.
