Dhaka, Sept. 23 -- A deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is threatening rough weather along Bangladesh's coast, with the Meteorological Department warning of squally winds and rain.

Meanwhile, local cautionary signal No. 3 has been advised to remain hoisted at the country's four maritime ports.

Speaking to bdnews24.com on Wednesday, Meteorologist Kazi Jebunnesa said: "The depression may bring squally winds alongside rainfall to coastal areas.

"It could also have some impact on the Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions."

The low-pressure system over the sea intensified into a depression on Monday evening, prompting authorities to hoist cautionary signal No. 3 at the four maritime ports.
