Dhaka, Sept. 24 -- Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch has sought another seven days to question MP Gazi Nazrul Islam in custody over the alleged abetment of his second wife Mariam Khatun's suicide.

The fresh remand request came on Thursday after the Satkhira-4 lawmaker completed four days of questioning in the case.

Investigating officer Mohammad Salauddin produced Nazrul before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court and applied for another seven days of remand.

The application is due to be heard by Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ripon Hossain, according to prosecution Sub-Inspector Rafiqul Islam.

Nazrul has been kept in the court lock-up pending the hearing, said SI Morshed Alam, who is in charge of the facility....
