Bangladesh, Sept. 15 -- A crude bomb has exploded outside the Supreme Court in Dhaka shortly after the International Crimes Tribunal sentenced seven Awami League leaders, including party General Secretary Obaidul Quader, to death over crimes against humanity during the July Uprising.

The explosion took place around 1:15pm on Tuesday near the entrance used by the chief justice and other judges, Shahbagh Police chief Md Moniruzzaman said.

He said someone threw the crude bomb, which then exploded, and police were working to identify those involved.

No casualties have been reported.

The tribunal sentenced the seven to death over crimes against humanity committed during the July Uprising in 2024.
