Dhaka, Oct. 6 -- The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) has taken cognisance of three charges of crimes against humanity accusing Mahbub Ul Islam Hanif, joint general secretary of the ousted Awami League, and three others of attempting to suppress the July Uprising.
The ICT also ordered the suspects to be arrested and brought before the court on Oct 14.
The bench led by Justice Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury made the decision on Monday.
The three other suspects in the case are Kushtia district council Chairman and local Awami League President Sadar Uddin Khan, the party's Kushtia General Secretary Asghar Ali, and Sadar Upazila council Chairman Ataur Rahman Ata.
