Dhaka, April 27 -- A Dhaka court has directed the River Police to expedite their investigation and submit the probe report in the murder case of Tarikuzzaman Sunny, a student of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Mahbubur Rahman passed the order after the Kutubpur River Police Outpost failed to submit the report by the scheduled deadline.

The court has fixed Jun 2 as the new date for submission.

During the proceedings, the victim's brother and complainant, Hasanuzzaman, filed a petition seeking to transfer the investigation from the River Police to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) or the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
